Cobalt long series drills are a preferred drill for harder materials especially stainless steel. The primary reason for this being they hold there rigidity and hardness at a higher temperature than HSS drill bits. All our cobalt drills are under that Phantom brand and as such have split points (self centring points). Cobalt drills are more suited to CNC machines, Pillar Drills and Drill Presses due to the brittleness of the material compared to standard HSS
Phantom: A range of HSS-Co long drill bits that offer benchmark quality, precision ground drill bits that maintain precise diameters, thus leaving precision tolerances in drilled holes. Not only are Phantom HSS-Co long drills precise, they also last longer under production conditions, excavate swarf quicker and feature a ‘split point’ or ‘self-centring’ tip.

Phantom PCD HSS-Co. Our HSSE-Co (Cobalt) long series drills have a point angle of 135° with a split point (self centring). The addition of Co facilitates higher cutting speeds and feeds. Co extends tool life as well. These drills are ideal for drilling stainless steel.

Phantom PHD HSSE-CO drills have a strong spiral angle, a 130° angle point, a split point (self centring) up to 3mm and from 3.1mm an 'S' shaped grinding. This drill was specifically developed for use in production lines.

Phantom PHD HSSE-Co. The TiAIN coated HSSE-Co drills have a 130° point angle, a split point (self centring) up to 3mm and from 3.1mm an 'S' shaped grinding. Due to their TiAIN coating (which reduces friction) they can handle even higher cutting speeds and higher feed rates, drastically shortening your drilling times.
